Overbeck wins pre-games
Magnus Overbeck from Kongelig Dansk Yachtklub in Demark has asserted his dominance, delivering a clear message to the world's best WASZP sailors by winning the Pre-games. Overbeck secured the victory by an impressive 19 points, ahead of Spains's Pablo Astiazaran, with Italy's Enzio Savoini rounding out the podium on a countback from fellow Italian Gabriele Venturino.

ready for racing
Sandefjord Seilforening is gearing up for a spectacular high-speed regatta in Sandefjordsfjorden! The action kicks off this weekend with the Norwegian Championships for IQFoil and WASZP. Up to 120 WASZPs and 20 IQFoil boards will be competing on Saturday and Sunday, with the Norwegian champions crowned on Sunday.

WASZP and Sandefjord Seilforening are delighted to welcome ROCKWOOL onboard as event partner for the WASZP Games 2024.
The Games – taking place in Sandefjord: City of Foiling from 5-10 August 2024 – is shaping up to be one of the biggest foiling events in history, with 180 boats set to compete in an iconic venue.

The WASZP Class, renowned as the premier one-design foiling dinghy globally, is making waves with unprecedented growth and record-breaking participation. The upcoming event in Sandefjord, Norway, slated for August 2024, has already shattered expectations, with all 150 original slots snapped up within a mere 48 hours of entries opening. In response to overwhelming demand, event organisers Sandefjord Seilforening, in collaboration with WASZP, have worked tirelessly to open an additional 30 slots, bringing the total entry list to a staggering 180 boats.

The WASZP is an Australian, single handed, hydrofoiling dinghy, designed by Andrew McDougall as a one-design racer for youth and adults.
Named 2017 Best One-Design in Sailing World's Boat of the Year Awards.
It has a free-standing catboat rig, a concave plumb stem, a vertical transom, an aluminium frame-mounted, transomhung, hydrofoil rudder controlled by a tiller and retractable, aluminium, hydrofoil daggerboard. It has folding hiking wings and displaces 48kg.
For sailing, the design is equipped with variable angle hiking wings to adjust to skill level. There are also three different sail and mast combinations for smaller or less experienced sailors, with areas of 5.8m3, 6.9m3 and 8.2m3.
The WASZP can start to hydrofoil in 7kn of wind, sustain hydrofoiling in as little as 5kn of wind and can reach a top speed of approx 24kn.

WASZP Games 2024 event partner
In collaboration with the WASZP Games, ROCKWOOL will deliver a range of activation that will help to take the event to the next level for both competitors and wider stakeholders, as sailors from 18 countries head to the island of Seilerholmen to enjoy five days of world-class racing, social events and learning workshops.
